Deco Tulsa | Icons in Design
Challenge
This project seeks to establish non-verbal communication to deepen the understanding of design. It showcases iconic buildings in Downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma, that epitomize the city’s prevalent Art Deco style. By visually representing these structures without relying on text, the design captures their essence and makes their architectural significance more accessible to the audience.
Solution
The solution involves researching selected buildings, creating detailed sketches and linework, and developing symbol systems that highlight their unique design. I applied these Deco icons to various formats, including ODOT signage, posters, and merchandise, ensuring that the visual language remains both recognizable and versatile.
